The Mount Tamalpais & Muir Woods Railway was a scenic tourist gravity operating railway running between Mill Valley and the peak of Mount Tam in Marin County, California. It covered a distance of 8.19 miles, with a 2.5 mile spur line through Muir Woods. The railroad began service in January 1896, closing only a little over three decades later, in the summer of 1930.
